This Forge Blow Off Valve Kit is suitable for the 1.6 turbo engines as found in the Mini Cooper S (R56/57 models) and Peugeot 207/307/308 GT models that have the electronically controlled bypass valves. The Forge blow off valve kit is recommended for any vehicle that has had an increase in boost pressure with an ECU software upgrade, and is also suitable for standard vehicles/boost pressures in cars located in hotter climates as a solution for many OE valve failures that have occured. The most common complaint with the original solenoid valve is a split diaphragm which prevents the valve from opening fully, or not at all. This doesn't always result in an engine check light as the boost pressure can still blow the valve open. Forge Motorsport have seen many OE valves with this problem. The other problem with the OE valve is that the diaphragm retaining ring is made from thin plastic which can go brittle with time and then fails. This prevents the diaphragm from sealing properly and can result in the same problems as mentioned above. This failure also results in the valve falling apart upon removal from the turbo, though in some extreme cases, bits of plastic can enter the turbo and destroy it. Forge have come up with a fully engineered solution that offers significantly improved reliability. The Forge Motorsport blow off valve is piston based with no diaphragm to fail, and is constructed from aluminium. It replaces the original unit with a pressure/vacuum operated piston valve that still also retains the desirable OEM ECU control over valve actuation. The spring is interchangeable for different levels of boost, and the solenoid is plug and play with the wiring harness which is included.
